Relationship between the nonexponentiality of relaxation and relaxation time in the problem of glass transition.

چکیده
By analyzing the experimental data for various glass-forming liquids and polymers, we find that the nonexponentiality, beta, and the relaxation time, tau, are commonly related: log(tau) is an approximately linear function of 1/beta, followed in most cases by a crossover to a higher linear slope. We rationalize this relationship in the recently developed elastic approach to the glass transition. The key to the observed common relationship between beta and tau is that the two quantities are governed by the same parameter, the liquid elasticity length, d el. The increase of d el on lowering temperature increases tau and decreases beta, resulting in the observed common relationship between beta and tau. In this picture, we also discuss the crossovers of beta and tau at low temperature.

Glass is one of the oldest materials which have been used in human history. Till nowadays, glass has not lost its attraction. The macroscopically character of this object make it usable for many different applications. Whether its transparency or its opacity, this object is the most fascinating material. Indeed, the history of glass making goes back to the 3th Millennium BC in Near East and Lev...
متن کاملAcceleration of Lagrangian Method for the Vehicle Routing Problem with Time Windows
The analytic center cutting plane method (ACCPM) is one of successful methods to solve nondifferentiable optimization problems. In this paper ACCPM is used for the first time in the vehicle routing problem with time windows (VRPTW) to accelerate lagrangian relaxation procedure for the problem. At first the basic cutting plane algorithm and its relationship with column generation method is clari...
متن کاملAnalytical Analysis of The Dual-phase-lag Heat Transfer Equation in a Finite Slab with Periodic Surface Heat Flux (RESEARCH NOTE)
This work uses the dual-phase-lag (DPL) model of heat conduction to demonstrate the effect of temperature gradient relaxation time on the result of non-Fourier hyperbolic conduction in a finite slab subjected to a periodic thermal disturbance. DPL model combines the wave features of hyperbolic conduction with a diffusion-like feature of the evidence not captured by the hyperbolic case. For the ...
متن کاملThe Lagrangian Relaxation Method for the Shortest Path Problem Considering Transportation Plans and Budgetary Constraint
In this paper, a constrained shortest path problem (CSP) in a network is investigated, in which some special plans for each link with corresponding pre-determined costs as well as reduction values in the link travel time are considered. The purpose is to find a path and selecting the best plans on its links, to improve the travel time as most as possible, while the costs of conducting plans do ...
متن کاملA Lagrangian Relaxation-based Algorithm to Solve a Home Health Care Routing Problem
Nowadays, a rapid growth in the rate of life expectancy can be seen especially in the developed countries. Accordingly, the population of elderlies has been increased. By another point of view, the number of hospitals, retirement homes along with medical staffs has not been grown with a same rate. Hence, Home Health Care (HHC) operations including a set of nurses and patients have been develope...
